🏗️ What people are building in this program
With the aim of creating a Hogwarts for builders and dreamers, Buildspace offers a unique educational experience that empowers individuals to pursue their creative ambitions while learning the skills necessary to transform their creations into viable, financially sustainable ventures.
Buildspace recognizes that many individuals, despite their childhood dreams, end up following a traditional path driven by societal and cultural expectations. The pressure to obtain a degree, secure a job, and prioritize financial stability often diverts people from their true passions.
While this path may suit some individuals, many find themselves yearning for an alternative route that aligns with their unique aspirations.

It acts as a nurturing environment where individuals can discover their passions, engage in fulfilling work, and learn how to transform their creations into sustainable career paths. The ultimate goal is to empower people to work on their projects full-time by equipping them with the knowledge of how to monetize their work, raise funds, and explore various avenues of financial support, including government grants.
The core concept of Buildspace revolves around "Builds." These are guided courses or projects within specific domains such as Web 3 or AI. For example, participants can engage in a build that teaches them how to utilize GPT-3 and construct a simple website incorporating its capabilities. By participating in these builds, individuals gain practical skills and experience in their chosen fields, enabling them to develop and refine their craft.

Since its inception in 2019, Buildspace has experienced remarkable growth and evolution. Throughout its journey, the platform has undergone ten strategic pivots, adapting to the needs and aspirations of its users.
This adaptability has contributed to Buildspace's success, with over 125,000 people having already built something using the platform. The community has flourished, with thousands attending in-person events, forming partnerships, starting multi-million dollar agencies, finding co-founders, and even securing funding for their own startups.
Buildspace's impact has been recognized by the industry, leading to a recent successful funding round. The company raised $10 million at a $100 million valuation, attracting investment from prominent venture capital firms like A16z, among others. The platform remains free to use, thanks to its sponsorship model, where companies seeking increased visibility for their tools, such as OpenAI, sponsor builds within the Buildspace ecosystem.
In a podcast hosted by Julian Alvarez, Farza Majeed shared his insights and experiences, delving into topics such as the importance of authenticity versus emulation, the potential dangers of solely pursuing billion-dollar valuations, and his personal journey as a young entrepreneur.
They also discussed the unique culture that has been fostered within Buildspace, the platform's distinctiveness compared to traditional online courses, and the critical mindset required for building meaningful products.
One aspect I like about Buildspace is the use of anime video and imagery to frame the journey. Farza and team have applicants “choose houses”.
What is a house? Essentially it seems that houses are the anime journey of the potential Buildspace-er (need to find out what you call someone in buildspace) identifies with most. Update: just “builders”.
We call the people who want to take this alternative life path “builders”.
Mr. Beast, Billie Eilish, Elon Musk, Christopher Nolan, Nikola Tesla, that person grinding on their project on the nights & weekends after work.
All of them are builders.
The people that built the things you love — your favorite anime, your favorite game, your favorite laptop — they were all built by people no smarter than you.
And guess what? You too can create something.
It’ll be difficult. There will be many hard times. Obsession will wear you down. But, we’re going to make the path a little easier for you. And all that effort you put in, it’ll serve you in due time.

Farza Majeed's aspirations extend beyond the realm of business, as he seeks to explore promising domains, ship meaningful products, and leave a lasting legacy.
A unique writing style. Farza has written on his substack newsletter in a quirky and vulnerable way that embodies the very qualities that make Buildspace so impactful. Never afraid to share the offbeat idea in his head, Farza leads by tolerating his own imperfect action to get to something great.
https://farza.substack.com/ In 2022 — buildspace raised $10M at a $100M valuation. This company is by far the most valuable, impactful thing I’ve ever worked on. To this day, the company has continued to grow and continue to be pretty successful.
Everything in that sentence above is crazy lol. Especially when you realize this whole thing started in 2019 with me homeschooling kids.
Don’t get me wrong — buildspace is doing really good but it’s still a fledgling baby company trying to to learn how to walk on it’s own. And, we’re just going to keep grinding to make it work.
Buildspaces’ Twitter says they operate 'Online, in San Francisco and now Dubai. These are what they refer to as hubs.
